The Opportunity
Our client, a well-established and highly respected membership body, is seeking an exceptional Head of IT and Data to provide strategic leadership for their IT and data functions. This is a pivotal role where you'll drive digital transformation, develop innovative technology solutions, and shape the future of the organisation's technology landscape.
As Head of IT and Data, you'll develop and deliver a forward-looking IT and data strategy, including a 10-year technology roadmap. You'll champion continuous improvement across all IT and data services while ensuring robust compliance, security, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and implement a comprehensive IT and data strategy aligned with the organisation's goals
- Lead digital transformation initiatives and drive continuous improvement
- Collaborate with senior leadership to ensure technology supports the organisation's mission
Operational Excellence
- Oversee all IT infrastructure including cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud) and on-premises hardware
- Manage security policies, backup, and disaster recovery systems
- Lead and develop a high-performing IT team, fostering professional growth and innovation
Data Governance & Compliance
- Develop robust data management strategies ensuring governance, quality, and security
- Ensure full compliance with UK GDPR and data protection legislation
- Maintain high standards of assurance across all IT and data activities
Stakeholder & Vendor Management
- Provide strategic technical support to all users and stakeholders
- Manage IT and data budgets, ensuring value for money and cost control
- Lead relationships with outsourced IT providers
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience in IT project management, including process design, network design, and third-party management
- Track record of delivering long-term IT strategy and leading digital transformation
- Practical expertise in networking hardware (on-premises and cloud), switching, routing, servers, and storage
- Strong knowledge of network and database security management
- In-depth understanding of information security and UK GDPR compliance
- Experience managing and motivating high-performing teams in complex organisations
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with strong attention to detail
- Experience of budget management and cost control
- Ability to collaborate on strategy development at senior management level
Desirable Requirements
- Experience with CRM systems (Dynamics 365 advantageous)
- Microsoft/Azure certifications or equivalent experience
- ITIL or equivalent experience
- Prince2 or equivalent project management experience
- Previous experience in the charity, education, or not-for-profit sector
- Experience designing and delivering in-house training for new systems and data management
- Commercial mindset
